Website Redesign Cost in New Jersey and NYC: When to Rebuild and What It Should Include

AppDesign360Published September 28, 2026Updated 8 min read

A professional website redesign for a New Jersey or New York City business costs $2,000–$3,500 for a starter site of up to 5 pages, $3,500–$8,000 for a full business site of up to 8 pages, $8,000–$20,000 when you add booking, payments, CRM, or 10–25 pages, and $25,000 or more when the site is really a web application. Rebuild when the site is slow on phones, older than about three years, on a platform you do not control, or invisible in search.

Two things a redesign should never cost you: your rankings and your content. Both are protected by a redirect map and a content audit, which are part of any competent redesign and should be listed in the quote.

Seven signs you need a redesign

  • It is slow on a phone. Test it on cellular, not office Wi-Fi. If it takes more than three seconds to become usable, you are losing calls.
  • It is more than about three years old. Design conventions, phone sizes, and search requirements have all moved.
  • You do not control it. The domain, hosting, or code is in a former vendor's name, or the platform cannot be exported.
  • It is invisible in search. You do not appear for your own service plus your town, and AI assistants never mention you.
  • Updates require a developer. Changing hours, a price, or a team photo should take you five minutes.
  • It does not match the business. Services you no longer offer, staff who left, prices from 2021.
  • Email goes to spam. Missing SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records mean your replies never arrive.

What a redesign must include

If a quote lists a new look but none of the above, it is a repaint, not a redesign.

  • Mobile-first pages that pass Core Web Vitals
  • Structured data (Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ) so search and AI engines understand what you do and where
  • An llms.txt file and crawler access for AI assistants
  • A full redirect map from every old URL to its replacement
  • Business email authentication: SPF, DKIM, and DMARC on your domain
  • Google Business Profile, Search Console, and GA4 connected on launch day
  • Accessibility basics: contrast, text sizes, keyboard navigation, alt text
  • Content refreshed for the business you run today, with answer-first copy on service pages
  • Ownership: domain, hosting, and code repository in your name

How to brief a redesign

  • List the five pages that bring you business today (check Google Search Console) so they are protected
  • Write down what a visitor should do: call, book, order, request a quote
  • Gather current photos, services, prices, and staff details before kickoff
  • Decide who will edit the site after launch and what they need to change
  • Share access to the domain, hosting, and Google accounts so nothing is rebuilt in someone else's name

Timeline and process

A business-site redesign on our business website service plan runs about a week: scoping call on day zero, page outline and design direction on days one and two, the build with copy, structured data, and email configuration through day six, and launch checks plus DNS cutover on day seven. Growth sites take two to four weeks because of integrations and page count. Either way you get a fixed price in writing first; start with the free quote form.
